About Daisha
I got into fitness and wellness because I was always very active in sports. I was a cheerleader for 14 years at the recreational, school varsity, and elite competitive levels. I also danced, played softball, and took tae kwon do for a few years. Through all of this I still struggled with body image issues. Finding kinesiology in college helped me realize that health and wellness is about more than aesthetics and from that point forward I became passionate about promoting health and wellness in the lives of others.

While I love almost everything about the industry, my special passion lies in educating and training seniors on how exercise can combat much of the decline that we see- not only physically- but also mentally and emotionally in the aging population. Senior individuals stand to gain the most immediate benefits from exercise which can drastically slow degenerative diseases and decrease medications that accompany aging.

I have many strengths in this industry. One includes programming. I enjoy exploring ways to get people excited about exercise because when they like what they're doing it becomes fun instead of that one dreadful hour out of their day. Another strength (also a passion) is rehabilitation. Everyone usually has some sort of injury, illness, or ache and pain. Understanding how to fix minor issues to get people back to full mobility is a major step in adhering to an exercise program.

In addition to accomplishments in programming for large populations (1,000-6,000 employees), I am an AFAA certified group exercise instructor and a certified health fair technician (screenings for bone density, cholesterol testing, pulmonary function testing). But throughout my career, my greatest accomplishment has been my ability to affect change in the lives of patients, members, and clients. There is no greater reward than seeing my GEX regulars reducing or being taken off medication for diabetes or blood pressure, etc. and seeing them be able to run marathons or compete in competitions that they never would have dreamed of previously.
